Well, friends, our tour stops here. Alas! Many transit options exist from Chamonix to Geneva, Switzerland, for a swell flight home. Many other travelers in the group ventured to Lausanne, Portugal, and Ireland. I told myself, "next time, I'll stay a little longer." Like this one bridge above, the roads through the mountains were curvy and sleek, a constant reminder to the traveler of nature's wonders and limits. And that we'll be back again for more adventures.
For my last day across the pond, I took a small shuttle from Chamonix to Geneva. While on wonderlust in Geneva's Streets, I came upon the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire (Museum of Art History), the largest art museum in town. Admission is free, but donations generously accepted.
I then enjoyed a picnic dinner on the Rhone River, and went to a French-inspired Lillo Restaurant & Bar for a cosmo and a dessert called the Cantucci col Vin Santo. It's an array of biscotti made with almond flour with just enough Vin Santo to dip the biscotti in so one can taste the infusions of a very sweet, yet intense dessert wine. An experience worth trying! As I said my good-byes with a Salut! to the city, I took a cab in the morning to the airport and was on my way home to Minnesota via quick connections and a renewed spirit (and mountain legs)!
