Fussen was a turning point for me in this trip. I hadn't planned to do much hiking because I fell a couple years ago and had chronic pain from it, so the views were great for me. Yet, the fairy tales whispering in this area told me, "just keep believing." Well, I spent an afternoon at the Crystal Royal Baths and felt like a new woman for the rest of the trip! That college girl and young child found their roots (but, no photos allowed in the baths--nudity possible!).

After my afternoon in the baths, I retired early for a full day of exploring Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles, both with revealing stories of Mad King Ludwig's life.
I opted for the horse buggy ride to the top of the castle walk. The driver's Bavarian accent set the stage! Buy your tickets before you leave --they sell out fast!
The last day in Fussen I enjoyed the cobblestone street shops, full of drindles and lederhosen! Anyone need a wedding dress?
We were just in time for a Medieval weekend of music and lore about the town. Viel Spass!
